It’s not just GTA 6 - May 2026 is looking like it’s going to be one of the biggest months for the entertainment world in years
May 2026 is shaping up to be legendary. With GTA 6, The Mandalorian movie, and Avengers Doomsday all hitting at once, it's a month we won’t forget.

It’s always nice where all the good things line up, and it looks like May 2026 is going to be one of those rare moments. We’re finally getting Grand Theft Auto 6, something we’ve been waiting for ever since we finished GTA 5 back in 2013 (yes, it’ll be thirteen years!). But that’s not all: we’ll also witness the final chapter of Mando and Grogu’s journey. And to top it all off, Avengers: Doomsday will premiere. It almost feels unreal how stacked this month will be.
May 2026 – a month like no other
First up is Avengers: Doomsday, hitting theaters on May 1. Sure, some people have been saying Marvel movies have started to feel a bit like just another average superhero films, but Thunderbolts (or should we say New Avengers) showed there’s still plenty to get hyped about. And if you stuck around through the credits and didn’t head for the exit too soon, you already know what – or more accurately, who – is coming next. That said, the cast reveal kind of gave it away anyway. Plus, it’s called Doomsday, the hint’s right there in the name. So yes, we’ll be seeing Pedro Pascal on the big screen twice that month.
Oh yeah, speaking of which – The Mandalorian & Grogu premieres on May 22. And while it’s a bit frustrating that we probably won’t get a fourth season, getting to see the story wrap up as a movie instead is still a solid way to end things. What really bugs me, though, is that Respawn’s Mando game got cancelled because of “market changes.” But I have a feeling his time will come. Sooner or later, we’ll get that game.
Alright, now for the big one. GTA 6 is dropping on May 26, 2026. Just before that second trailer came out, Rockstar gave us the date. So unless there’s another delay (fingers crossed there isn’t, as everyone was convinced it would come out this year), the wait will finally be over. We’ll find out who’s voicing Jason and Lucia, as it’s always a tightly kept secret until launch, and we’ll get to see what might be the best-looking game of this console generation.
I seriously doubt any other major title will even try to launch around the same time. And when it comes to player numbers, GTA 6 is bound to blow Black Myth: Wukong or Monster Hunter Wilds out of the water. A new GTA isn’t just a game launch, it’s a global event.
