The head of Larian commented on Baldur's Gate 3's nomination for The Game Awards 2023, while mentioning the company's next project. It is expected to „push many boundaries”.
Responsible for the hugely popular Baldur's Gate III, Larian has a lot to celebrate recently. The latest work of the developers from Belgium won a record number of statuettes at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 gala and also received eight nominations for awards at this year's The Game Awards.
Swen Vincke, head of Larian Studios, commented on X/Twitter the choice of Baldur's Gate III as a candidate to win several honors in the second of the aforementioned ceremonies. He also mentioned the studio's next game in passing, although he did not reveal any details about it.
Unfortunately, we don't know what this next big game of Larian will be. We can only assume that we are talking about a new part of Divinity: Original Sin. If indeed Swen Vincke had "D3" in mind, then fans of the Original Sin series need to be patient. Some time ago, the CEO of Larian Studios claimed that after Baldur's Gate III the developers will take a break, and work on the next Original Sin would only start when the team "refreshes itself creatively."
Currently, the studio is still focusing its attention on the third Baldur's Gate. In addition to more patches, the developers plan to release the game on Xbox Series X/S consoles. Officially, we only know that Baldur's Gate III will be released this year on Microsoft devices, but according to rumors it will happen on December 6.
Finally, a reminder that the winners of this year's The Game Awards in each category will be announced on December 7.
