Leak Suggests Arma Reforger Instead of Arma 4

We may be years away from the release of Arma 4, but there is a chance that we will see a new game from the series later this year. A recent leak suggests a release of a spin-off on PC, Xbox (and later also PlayStation), said to be titled Arma Reforger.

Arma III may still be selling very well, and players have no reasons to complain about lack of new content. Nevertheless, here and there there are opinions that after more than seven years it would be high time for the next installment. Perhaps soon the wishes of these fans will come true, although not necessarily in the way they desire. This is what is suggested by the reports of Biostiel, a well-known insider claiming to be an employee of Bohemia Interactive. He posted a handful of screenshots and information on Twitter, reporting of a game titled Arma Reforger. In the meantime, Biostiel deleted his account and created a new one, but his posts were saved by other internet users, including user MrDisposableUsername from Reddit.

Biostiel stressed that Arma Reforger (the subtitle probably has something to do with the Reforger exercises conducted by NATO during the Cold War) is not a major installment. The game is meant to serve as a test for Enfusion, Bohemia Interactive's new engine. The technology is not yet ready for Arma 4, which Biostiel says is still years away. Therefore, Reforger will be a rather modest project focused on multiplayer and with only two game modes. What's more, we shouldn't be expecting a free title in the vein of Argo. Arma Reforger will be released this year on PC and Xbox as a paid product. The title will also come to PlayStation, but later, as it has not yet been certified by Sony.

Interestingly, Biostiel also mentioned about the planned abandonment of Steam as a platform for Bohemia Interactive's games. The studio is working on its own launcher, but it will still support mods (including paid ones). These will already be available in Arma Reforger, which shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, one of the advantages of Enfusion is to resign from the so-called hard coding, which will facilitate the work of both developers and modders.

In short, there's a chance for a new installment in the series this year, but we'll have to wait a long time for a real Arma 4. At least if we believe Biostiel, and although he can be considered a relatively reliable source, this is still only unofficial information. Therefore, we emphasize that we should not treat this and other leaks as confirmed until the appearance of official announcements from the creators.
