Although it's been a long time since the announcement of Marvel's Blade, it looks like the project has not been abandoned. The latest financial report from the Arkane studio suggests that the game is still in production - although we will have to wait a long time for the release.
At the end of 2023, Arkane Studios - known for Deathloop or the Dishonored series - announced Marvel's Blade, in which the titular vampire hunter was to receive his due portion of digital glory. Since then, the devs were quiet about the project... until now.
In the latest financial report of the company (via GamesRadar), there was a mention of a mysterious AAA game, which is currently in the production phase. Although the document does not mention Marvel's Blade directly, many indications suggest that this is that game.
Where does this belief come from? According to the information contained in the report, Arkane Lyon studio employed 190 people last year, which makes it unlikely that the team was working simultaneously on more than one high-budget production. This allows us to assume that the aforementioned AAA project is indeed Blade.
However, there is also less optimistic news. The report suggests that full production of the game only started at the end of 2024. This means that Marvel's Blade is still in a relatively early stage of development and should not be expected on the market earlier than in 2027.
As a consolation, it should be mentioned that the wave of mass layoffs at Microsoft and its subsidiaries - including ZeniMax, which owns Arkane - apparently did not negatively affect the game's fate. This is a good sign for fans of the Marvel's vampire hunter, who are eagerly awaiting the return of Blade to the world of video games.
