It looks like Microsoft has cleared the final hurdles to a historic deal. Apparently, the company is so confident that the Activision Blizzard acquisition is to be finalized on Friday, October 13.

Superstitions aside, according to sources from The Verge the Redmond giant is said to have chose next Friday mainly because of the UK Competition and Markets Authority. That's because today is the deadline for the CMA to collect third party views on Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard.

Recall: the agency was initially opposed to the deal, but Microsoft's proposals for "remedies" convinced the British to give it preliminary approval. Nevertheless, the CMA saw fit to consult "third parties" once again before making a final decision.

Opinions were due to be collected by today, so the authority can be expected to reveal its position next week. At least that's what Microsoft is counting on, if The Verge's sources are to be believed.

It also falls to recall that in mid-July, the Redmond giant, together with Activision Blizzard set a new "deadline" for the merger: October 18. So, unless the Brits change their minds, the biggest acquisition in the history of the game industry should be finalized soon.
