Minecraft 1.17 Will Introduce New Mountains, Here's a Comparison

The next version of Minecraft will introduce changes to the world generator. The game will add new, realistic mountains.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Minecraft 1.17 will introduce changes to the world generator;
  • There will be new, realistic mountain ranges in the game world;
  • They will be higher and more complex than the existing ones.

Minecraft version 1.17 is approaching, bringing further changes to the popular sandbox game. Among other things, the world generator will be modernized. Thanks to it we will see realistic mountain ranges in the game world. Even at first glance they look dramatically different. At the same time, the creators assured that the introduction of a new type of mountains does not mean getting rid of the old solution. The existing formula will still appear in the game under the name Extreme Hills.

The new mountains are not only more believable, but also much higher and more complex. Some of the generated mountain ranges will be divided into individual biomes that change with altitude. At the bottom we can expect gentle hills overgrown with forests, which change into open space further up, and eventually the player has to trek across snow-covered cliffs. The danger will be among others snow dust, which will collapse under our weight. It is closely related to the mountain biome. Walking in such terrain will also not be made easier by goats, which are glad to ram the players and send them rolling downhill.

Currently, the changes can be experienced on a special Beta server in Minecraft Bedrock. This is a multiplatform edition of the game based on the C language. However, all new features will also make their way to the Java Edition when the full version of Update 1.17 is released. It will launch this summer. Its subtitle is Caves & Cliffs, which clearly indicates what elements of the game will change. In addition, the update will introduce new blocks, mobs and items.
