As Many as 91 New Block Types are Coming to Minecraft

Minecraft developers have revealed more new features that await players in the Caves & Cliffs update. The popular sandbox will be enriched with 91 new types of blocks such as copper or snow powder.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Minecraft will receive 91 new block types in the Caves & Cliffs update;
  • Among them will be copper, snow powder and metal deposits in shale;
  • We'll get to know the novelties in the summer.

For quite some time now, Minecraft developers have been convincing us that the Caves & Cliffs update will be downright gigantic. This fact made it necessary to split it into two parts, the first of which we'll be able to test in the summer. Among the novelties there are new mobs and changes in the world generation. New block types will also be added to the game. The devs have revealed that there will be as many as 91 of them.

In a video published on the Minecraft's official YouTube channel, the creators showed only part of the blocks that we'll find in the game. Among the novelties we can distinguish copper. It was already known that this material will appear in the game, but now we know how it will work. It turns out that this metal will be used, for example, to create a lightning conductor or copper blocks and stairs. In addition, blocks made of this material will change their color over time in a way that resembles the real aging process of copper.

The game will also feature snow dust that you can fall into. A new variant of deposits was also shown, which will be generated not only in blocks of stone, but also slate.Ores of this kind will appear only in the deepest levels of the map. After smelting them, however, they will have no different properties than ordinary coal, iron, gold, diamonds, etc.

Minecraft will also be enriched with many new decorative and plant blocks. Some of them feature very interesting mechanics. A good example can be a vertically growing giant mimosa. These plants can be used as platforms, which players will be able to jump on. However, we will have to be careful, because after a while it will bend under the weight of the player's character.

We will see how these changes will affect the gameplay soon. The first part of the Caves & Cliffs update will be available this summer.
