Mods Are to Be Important for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

Mac Walters from BioWare assured that the whole team is in constant contact with selected people involved in modding of Mass Effect games. This is in order to transfer the fan projects from the original trilogy to the Legendary Edition as smoothly as possible.

IN A NUTSHELL
  1. According to Mac Walters, the team at BioWare is in contact with some modders of the Mass Efect trilogy;
  2. Together they are trying to find an idea to transfer projects for the original games to Legendary Edition as smoothly as possible;
  3. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released on May 14, 2021.

Fan modifications - an element without which many PC gamers are not able to imagine playing their favorite games. This is the case with the Mass Effect trilogy, as evidenced by the statements of some members of its community after the announcement of the remaster collection, the Legendary Edition. Some of them questioned the point of buying this collection, since they won't be able to use mods, be it improving gameplay or beautifying the environment, to which they've already become accustomed. Mac Walters, director of the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition project, decided to reassure such people.

He posted a statement on Twitter (its original content can be found below), in which he assures that BioWare remains in contact with selected modders. Together they are trying to figure out how best to inform the community about changes to the Legendary Edition that will affect existing projects and how to prepare them for the upcoming remaster release. As a result, many well-known mods may be ported to the refreshed versions of the famous space trilogy rather quickly. Details are to be announced at a later date.

So it's clear that in the case of Legendary Edition BioWare is trying to be open with the fans of the original. The question is, what will come out of it? And will this approach convince skeptical users to give the collection a chance? All will become clear over the coming months.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as part of backwards compatibility) on May 14, 2021. This release will include all three games from the original trilogy in remastered version (the changes are supposed to improve both gameplay and visuals) along with most of the DLCs for them.
