Morale in Jagged Alliance 3 (JA3) Explained; How to Check and More

One of the most important aspects of Jagged Alliance 3 is taking care of you mercenaries. You have to give them equipment, heal them and also try to make them happy. Morale is very important in the game, as it sometimes can influence an outcome of a fight. In this guide we will talk about it.
Importance of morale in JA3
Morale is important because it influences your action points. If it is too low, you will lose them and sometime 1 AP is all you need to shoot once again and kill your opponents before they wound you. Of course it also works the other way round – you may gain AP for happy mercs.
How to deal with morale in Jagged Alliance 3
There are 3 main ways to boost your morale:
- Win fights in a spectacular way – there is a chance that after dealing a lot of damage, your mercs will get bonus morale points. High Leadership increases chances on occurring positive events. What is more, there are perks which also influence chances of morale gains and losses.
- Plot events – many encounters with various characters end with a decision. This choice often will influence morale of your companions. Luckily, the game will warn you in these cases when you hover your mouse above the option.
- Social issues – some mercs don’t like each other. They will get a big penalty to morale for being in one sector. On the other hand, some are friends, you will get boost if they travel in one squad.
How to check morale in JA3
Checking morale is a little bit tricky, as you can’t do It always. If you want to look at your mercs spirit, enter tactical view and hover over the portrait of your soldier. It does not work in sat view, which may be a little bit confusing.
What is more, you can check squad morale during combat. There is a symbol over your characters portraits (left top corner of the screen).
