Blizzard released a changelog for the 2.2.1 update to Diablo 4. It focuses on improving balance by buffing weaker skills and items.
At the end of April, the 8th season of Diablo 4 titled Belial's Return kicked off. Among the new features, there's the most powerful boss released so far, extra powers for our characters, and the controversial premium pass. Now, Blizzard revealed the contents of the first major update, which focuses on buffing some of the less successful builds.
Patch number 2.2.1 will be released next Wednesday, on May 14th. Its biggest winners are the barbarian and the spiritborn, but the developers have also prepared smaller or larger changes for each character class.
In the case of the barbarian, the Aspect of Dire Whirlwind will be buffed, which will provide the same value as the damage from critical hits associated with this skill. Furthermore, the scaling of the Ghor's Devastating Grips item will be changed, which will result in an increase in damage by about 100%. The Twin Strikes ability will also become stronger.
As for the Spiritborn, a big change will be felt by those using the Protector skill. Not only its damage has been increased, but also the amount of the awarded barrier. Moreover, three passive abilities were buffed: Adaptive Stances, Vital Strikes, and Prodigy's Tempo.
The remaining classes received improvements of the following skills and items:
Besides changes in character balance, the possibility to purchase Oath Scrolls from Sajena in exchange for Spectral Ash has been added. We will use them to increase the reputation of the Unveiler's Oath. Furthermore, two boss powers have also been buffed: Sinerat's Flames and the Hatred's Embrace's Haste.
The list provided by Blizzard also includes many fixed bugs. You can find the whole thing on the game's website.
Diablo 4, along with the Vessel of Hatred expansion, is available on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne, and XSX/S. The game (without the expansion) can also be played as part of the Game Pass subscription.
