This week, games such as The Alters, Dune: Awakening, Stellar Blade, Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, MindsEye, and the remaster of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will be released on Steam.
Welcome to the series that discusses the most important upcoming releases on Steam. This week is going to be pretty unusual – we can expect a lot of game debuts from major publishers. Indie teams have mostly decided to wait to avoid the risk that their projects will be overshadowed by hundreds of demos from the Steam Next Festival, which starts this evening.
Dune: Awakening is an online action game, combining elements of survival and MMO, taking us to Arrakis.
We chose this title for the release of the week, as it is already known that it will be the biggest success of the coming days. People who bought the more expensive special editions started playing last week. The game turned out to be very popular and was warmly received (it has 88% positive reviews on Steam).
Since the game went into paid early access, the number of players has been steadily increasing, and yesterday it reached a record high of 117,087 simultaneous players.
MindsEye is an action-adventure game with an open world, inspired by GTA and developed by a team led by one of the co-creators of the series. The game will focus on slightly cyberpunk atmospheres and a high cinematic presentation.
The fact that two important employees left the project studio responsible for the project without giving a reason a week before the launch is causing concern, and the announcements are quite mixed. So we are eagerly awaiting the Tuesday release.
Tomorrow will also see the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - Master Crafted Edition, which is a remaster of the popular action game from 2011. The original has 92% positive reviews on Steam.
Ertugrul of Ulukayin is an action-adventure game with RPG elements that will take us to 13th-century Turkey. The game should have a great story, a cool fighting system, and the option to sneak around while completing tasks.
Hellbreak will combine the genres of FPS and Arena Survival. The player will be fighting hordes of enemies on enclosed maps, using a wide arsenal of weapons and a rich selection of spells, curses, and blessings.
Heroes of Valor is an online TPP shooter set in a humorous version of World War II. The game has a lighthearted approach, with a variety of classes and vehicles, and a cartoonish style that clearly shows it's inspired by Battlefield Heroes.
One of the most important releases of the week will undoubtedly be Stellar Blade, a port of the hit action game that launched on PlayStation 5 last year. Our editor was really impressed with the console release and gave it a score of 9/10.
The game has a demo on Steam.
Train Valley Origins is another installment of the popular series of strategic and logical games, in which we solve puzzles involving the mapping of railway routes.
On the other hand, Vilde is a Norse mythology-inspired FPS roguelike game. In the game, we'll be taking on hordes of enemies in three different arenas, leveling up our character, and creating unique builds that match our preferred fighting style.
On Thursday, Wizard of Legend 2 will leave early access, which is a sequel to the action game where we fight using a rich arsenal of spells.
The first installment was really well-received (it has 91% positive reviews on Steam), but the sequel didn't create the same excitement (it only has 65% positive opinions). We're curious to see if the 1.0 update can turn things around.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is the latest installment in the hit horror game series. This time we're gonna explore a creepy warehouse, trying to avoid contact with an advanced and very aggressive endoskeleton that can change its appearance.
Prometheus Wept is a tactical turn-based RPG set in a post-apocalyptic future, where humanity first rose to the heights of civilization thanks to the integration of computer technology with every aspect of life, and then collapsed when a virus destroyed most of these systems.
The Alters, which looks very interesting, is the latest game from the creators of the popular Frostpunk series, the Polish studio 11 bit. The game combines adventure and strategy, putting us in the shoes of Jan Dolski, an astronaut who has to create alternative versions of himself to survive on an alien planet.
