New Tests of RTX 3080 Show Big Advantage Over RTX 2080 Super

Several benchmarks of GeForce RTX 3080 GPU have been released online, illustrating CUDA and OpenCL performance and suggesting that the card is several dozen percent more efficient than GeForce RTX 2080 Super. It also has a clear advantage over RTX 2080 Ti.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. The GeForce RTX 3080 benchmarks for CUDA and OpenCL have been released online;
  2. The results suggest that the new chipset is 68% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 Super and 38-41% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

VideoCardz has reached several benchmarks of Nvidia's new GeForce RTX 3080, which test CUDA and OpenCL performance. The results of the first test indicate that the chipset delivers 68% better performance than the GeForce RTX 2080 Super. It has a 38% advantage over the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 3080 has performed very similarly in the second benchmark, although in this case its advantage over RTX 2080 Ti has increased to 41%.

The tested model met the specs of Founders Edition - the card had 68 computing units, 10 GB of VRAM with 320-bit bus and 1710 MHz Boost mode clocking. It is worth noting that such tests are not necessarily an indicator of actual performance in games, but the first reports on this issue - based on analysis conducted by Digital Foundry - are very promising.

The GeForce RTX 3080 will be launched on September 17 this year. A week later, the even more powerful GeForce RTX 3090 will be released.
