Peter Molyneux's Unreleased Game is Making Millions on NFTs

Legacy, the new project by Peter Molyneux, has earned 40 million pounds even before its release. However, the sum does not come from preorders or other typical sources of funding. The creators earned money on the sale of NFTs, on which the game will be based.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Peter Molyneux's new game - Legacy - has already made 40 million pounds;
  2. All because of pre-release NFT transactions. To start the game we are required to buy a Land NFT token;
  3. The game will be based on blockchain technology and NFTs and will be one of the first games from the play-to-earn genre.

Announced in 2019, Legacy is enjoying its first successes. According to the latest reports the next project of Peter Molyneux (associated, among others, with the Fable series) has already earned 40 million pounds from the sale of NFTs. Let's add that the beginning of sales was announced last weekend.

Where does such a dizzying amount come from? The answer is quite interesting - Legacy will be a game based on the blockchain technology, enabling players to earn real money (the title has its own cryptocurrency - LegacyCoin). 40 million pounds was earned by the sale of Land NFTs, which enable the users to start their own business within the game. Peter Molyneux's project is expected to be one of the pioneers of the play-to-earn model.

What in fact is Legacy? The game can be summed up as an "inventor/businessman simulator". We start as a constructor in ta workshop, and with the right amount of creativity and good advertising, we can quickly gain considerable profits, which will enable us to establish a company (which will have to be properly managed in order to continue earning money).

To quote Gala Games, a blockchain-based game company that partners with the developers:

"Owning a Land NFT allows you to start your own in-game blockchain business association in Legacy. You will be able to play Legacy, while earning and owning your gameplay.

Crucially, as a business association owner, you will have access to Legacy Keys. These items can be lent to other people who want to start an in-game business in Legacy, making them your in-game Business Partners. As part of your association, they will share a portion of their earned LegacyCoin with you."

Legacy is being developed by 22cans, a studio whose portfolio includes, e.g. the strategy game Godus (canceled) or The Trail: Frontier Challenge. Previous games bt 22cans were not big hits, which makes the popularity of their new production all the more surprising. Enthusiasts of cryptocurrencies and the "play-to-earn" model apparently do not mind the lack of good games from Peter Molyneux in recent years. The release of his new work is to take place in 2022. However, the exact date has not yet been announced.
