The latest expansion for Path of Exile has caused quite a storm among players. Because of Lake of Kalandra, some are abandoning the game for good. The developers, on the other hand, are acting as if they do not want to fix the problem.
This weekend saw the release of patch 3.19 for Path of Exile, dubbed Lake of Kalandra. Players were to receive a lot of good stuff, including new locations or items. However, all this was overshadowed by the biggest changes in the game's history, which upset some people to the point of quitting the game for good.
Lake of Calandra has changed one important element of Path of Exile for the worse. These are the loot drops from enemies. Now there are far fewer of them. One player calculated, that in one of the worst cases, the amount of loot could be reduced by up to ten times. According to Path of Exile veterans, this is the biggest change the developers have made to the game in nearly 10 years of its existence.
Another significant change, which the players were very interested in at the time announcement, is the one related to Harvest mechanics. Until now, it was very difficult to exchange crafts, some desperate people even did it outside the game - they looked for people to exchange on various online forums. Lake of Kalandra was supposed to change that, as trading was to be made much easier with the patch. Meanwhile, the developers messed up this mechanic more than they improved it. In fact, they nerfed it so much that disgruntled players began to abandon crafting altogether.
Shortly after releasing the patch the devs announced, that they will introduce changes to fix Lake of Calandra. Unfortunately, this news defiantly did not make the angry players happy enough. Despite the developers' words that they are paying attention to the players' response, the same players are even more upset by the fact that the changes will not fix what has been broken in Path of Exile the most. Here's a quick look at the most significant modifications announced by the developers.
The developers apparently took to heart only one of the bugs, namely the amount of loot. They announced making "massive" changes to the drops, however, these are still not the numbers from before the introduction of Lake of Kalandra.
Lake of Kalandra update is available on PC and is scheduled to launch on Xbox One and PS4 on August 25.
