PS Plus Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake Gets Free PS5 Version [UPDATED]

No more treating Final Fantasy VII Remake from PS Plus as an inferior version. Square Enix will finally let you download the game's enhancement update for the PlayStation 5 release for free.

Update

Final Fantasy VII Remake owners who bought the game on PlayStation Plus can now download an update for the PS5 console. It is almost 85 GB of data, although only a little over 13 GB is needed to initially launch the game. In addition, it is necessary to have an active PS Plus subscription.

We'd also like to remind you that as part of the PlayStation Store winter sale, the Episode Intermission DLC has been discounted to $ 14.99. The deal is valid until January 7, 2022.

Original news

PC gamers are celebrating (but mostly lamenting) after the launch of the refreshed Final Fantasy VII on Epic Games Store. Meanwhile, Square Enix will soon release a dedicated PS5 update to the remake of the seventh installment of Final Fantasy for purchasers of the game's digital edition on PS Plus.

FF7: The Remake could be obtained "for free" in March - as long as you had an active PlayStation Plus subscription. This was the base version of the game, without the later additions, which were released in June, but only for people who actually purchased the game.

The update will be released this Wednesday and will bring all the improvements from the Intergrade edition. These include faster loading times and nicer textures, as well as the ability to play at higher resolutions: 2160p (at 30 fps) or 1512p (60 fps).

On a side note: Square Enix will also lower the price of the Intermission DLC, starring the ninja thief Yuffie, from $19.99 to about $15.
