The free-to-play model has benefited PUBG: Battlegrounds. The game is gaining an average of 80,000 new players per day.
This January PUBG: Battlegrounds, one of the most popular online shooters, switched to F2P model. The company that owns the brand, Krafton, boasted data that shows that the switch to free-to-play has been quite a success.
This success was achieved despite numerous voices of dissatisfaction from players, who had previously played with the paid version. On Steam of all the ratings given to the game, only 56% are positive. The reception of the free-to-play version is slowly improving, however, as counting only user reviews from the last 30 days, 65% of them praise PUBG.
Finally, it's worth mentioning that the report mentions two major upcoming projects from Krafton. The first is an RPG based on Korean fantasy novels, Project Windless, and the second is a new game by Unknown Worlds, the studio famous for Subnautica, which will be announced at this year's gamescom.
