Wild West Spin-off of PUBG Announced

The devs of Playerunknown's Buttlegrounds are working on another spin-off. The action is to take place in an open world pulled straight from the Wild West.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • PUBG's developers have announced a spin-off series set in the Wild West;
  • Project COWBOY will take the players to a world inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2;
  • The game is set to launch on PC and consoles.

The PUBG universe will take the players to the Wild West. In a conversation with Bloter, South Korean company Krafton Inc. confirmed the start of work on another standalone spin-off series, codenamed Project COWBOY. The game will enable us to play in a large open world inspired by the one we could explore in Red Dead Redemption 2. The publisher has also opened recruitment for those interested in taking an active part in the game's development.

Project COWBOY will be a standalone game set in the PUBG universe, offering a Western open-world setting with an atmospheric arsenal of revolvers, shotguns, and other deadly weaponry appropriate for the Wild West. Krafton plans to release the game on PC and consoles, but no official list of target platforms has been announced yet.

The devs apparently do not intend to slow down in expanding the Playerunknown's Battlegrounds universe. Project COWBOY is another officially confirmed title related to PUBG. Currently, there are several games in development, for example, The Callisto Protocol (scheduled for 2022), hailed as the spiritual heir to the Dead Space series of space survival horror games. PUBG: New State, a mobile sci-fi spin-off to the original game, is also being developed and will launch later, this year.

The ambitious plans of the devs clearly indicate that the PUBG universe can expect intense expansion in the coming years, which will certainly please fans of this classic battle royale title. However, we will certainly have to wait a little longer for a western spin-off. Krafton did not reveal the planned release date, and taking into account the ongoing recruitment process for Project COWBOY's staff the work on the game is probably just beginning.
