The recent announcement of Red Dead Redemption ports has severely disappointed gamers and experts. Some outright urge people not to buy this thirteen-year-old game, which is likely to cost around $50.
Yesterday we reported about Rockstar Games' announcement, in which the studio broke the news of the release of Red Dead Redemption for two more platforms. However, the reaction of gamers turned out to be diametrically opposed to what the developers might have expected.
On Monday Rockstar Games released on YouTube a one-minute trailer, which announces the release of the first installment of Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare DLC on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
An industry expert highlights in X the lack of a PC version of Red Dead Redemption, as well as the excessive price; he also ironically points out the agreement of Take-Two's CEO (the company that owns Rockstar Games) for such a cost.

The situation is no different on the subreddit of Red Dead Redemption, where users express their unflattering opinions and outright urge people not to buy the announced ports. One fan pointed out that this version of the game will not have visual improvements, more fps, or a multiplayer mode. Still, the developers want to take $50 for a 13-year-old title.

Whether the PS4 and Switch port of RDR will indeed have no improvements was verified by Cycu1, who posted two videos on YouTube, where he compared it to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game. It's safe to say that you can see slight changes from the original, including improved lighting.
... we did not receive any news from Rockstar Games about a Xbox console port. This was no coincidence - although Red Dead Redemption was originally released on Xbox 360, it has been possible to play the game on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S for a long time now. All thanks to Microsoft's backward compatibility, which in such cases is much more appreciated.
Let's point out that Xbox console owners can buy the game from Microsoft Store For "only" $25. Compared to the price that players who want to check out the game on PS4 or Switch will have to pay, it's truly a bargain.
Recall that Red Dead Redemption version for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will launch on August 17.
Let's hope Rockstar Games sees the massive negative reception of the announced ports and gets to work on the much-anticipated remake or remaster.
