Fans of Ready or Not, angered by the censorship of some elements of the game, have reached for a new weapon in the fight to change the developer's decision.
It seems that the console version of Ready or Not is selling very good. Void Interactive's CEO, Julio Rodriguez, announced that four days after the release on PS5 and XSX/S, the title had been purchased a million times. Achieving this result was supposed to happen ten times faster than in the PC edition of the game (via InsiderGaming).
In recent weeks, the fan community of the tactical shooter Ready or Not has been infuriated by the announcement of censoring the most controversial elements of the game. It was caused by the console version of the project, where such changes were enforced by the producers of these devices.
Players tried to pressure the devs into changing their decision, including by giving the game negative reviews on Steam, but in the end, it didn't work, and the update introducing the censorship was released. Now, some angry fans have decided to resort to another method and are urging others to refund Ready or Not on Steam.
Such action is unlikely to force the devs to change their minds. People who want to remove censorship can, however, use mods. The creators have already announced that they won't block fan projects that bring back the original elements. So it is not a special surprise that such a modification has already appeared. It's titled Uncensored or Not , and it has been downloaded almost 13,000 times on NexusMods within two days.
We will see if the players' fury will last in the long term. Right now, only 23% of the reviews on Steam from the last 30 days are positive.
