Players Override Resident Evil Village Demo's Time Limit

How to spend more than 60 minutes in Resident Evil Village's demo, the limit imposed by Capcom? The solution (and not just one) came from PC gamers who shared their findings on Steam.

Since Friday, players can check out the new demo of Resident Evil Village on PC and Xbox consoles. However, some people are bothered by the demo's one-hour time limitation. At least it was so until Steam users discovered a way to extend the play time in the PC demo of the new installment of Resident Evil. Everything is described in the instruction posted in a thread on Steam.

The trick discovered by the players consists of eight steps. We start by disabling the Steam Cloud function, downloading the Steam Achievement Manager (SAM) and deleting local save files. These can be found in the D:\Steam\userdata\X\1541780\remote\win64_save folder, where "D:" is the drive with Steam installed and "X" is the user's Steam ID. Next, launch SAM, select "RE8 Demo" and delete all stats and achievements. After running the Resident Evil Village demo, the timer should reset, enabling you to play for another hour.

Of course, in this way you will also delete all game settings. This can be prevented by copying the file data00-1.bin from the demo folder right after resetting the time and selecting the appropriate options. An alternative method is presented in a YouTube video posted on the Ren Kill channel. Just download the .dll file (provided in the video's description) and place it in the demo's folder. However, this should be done before reaching the 60 minute limit or after resetting the timer using the first method.

Of course, not everyone may be willing to play around with files or download them from unreliable sources. Especially since there are only four days left until the release of the full version of the game. Resident Evil Village will debut on May 7 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The demo, on the other hand, will be available until May 10.
