RTX 5090 turned his room into a „sauna.” „I built the system from scratch,” says the player and shows his creation

The player was fed up with the high temperature in the room. So he built a system that exhausts hot air from the computer directly to the outside.

A certain player had an issue with their office getting way too hot (getting ready for B6, maybe?). They were running a PC with an RTX 5090, and it generated so much heat that they described their workspace as a "sauna." So they got to work and built an air exhaust system from scratch - just so they could finally breathe a little. Others online suggested they install some extra insulation to keep the heat under control.

Player assisting his air conditioning

On the r/pcmasterrace subreddit, a user named Distinct_Sky_6517 proudly shared their latest accomplishment. It’s a custom-built heat dissipation system for their PC, made entirely from scratch. In their post, they complained that it was so hot in the office, even the air conditioning couldn’t keep up. It was all thanks to their RTX 5090-powered rig.

According to the readings shown, the air inside the ducts exceeds 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit). Alongside the photos, they gave a detailed explanation of everything they did to bring their room back to normal.

Made a shroud over my 360mm top rad. Hooked up two high-speed fans to a duct blowing straight out the window. Turned the rear case fan into a second exhaust, added another fan + duct. Built a clean-looking wood insert so I didn’t have janky plastic flaps hanging out the window. Tied it all together so both ducts push heat outside while the dual-hose AC keeps the room cold.

So far, the system is working well, though others have offered suggestions for how it could be improved. Some pointed out that the pipes drawing out warm air will themselves heat up - and over time, this could cause the room to get hot again. That’s why adding extra insulation to the pipes would be a smart move. That advice came from user Dry_Departure_7813, who spoke from personal experience. When they used a similar setup, the piping got so hot it basically turned into a radiator.

At the same time, jokes started circulating that cases featuring Distinct_Sky_6517’s custom heat dissipation system would soon hit the market, priced at $10,000. Following the launch of the RTX 50 series, it’s become clear that the issue isn’t just high temperatures - there's also the problem of power flow, which can lead to melted connectors on the GPU or power supply.
