Rumor: PS5 Controller and Its Battery Life

According to a new rumor, the controller for PlayStation 5 - DualSense - runs on a single charge 3-4 hours longer than DualShock 4. The hardware is also expected to have an improved touchpad and slightly different L1 and R1 buttons.

The battery was one of the most heavily criticised aspects of the PS4 controller - let's hope that the next-gen hardware will offer an improvement in this respect.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. The DualSense pad is designed to allow for about 3-4 hours of playing more on a single charge than DualShock 4;
  2. The controller for PS5 is also said to have a more responsive touchpad;
  3. The source of information is supposedly someone who has had a chance to test the controller - the author of the entry also published a short video, which shows the DualSense.

An entry on Reddit suggested that the battery in the DualSense pad will last 3-4 hours longer than the one uses in DualShock 4. The device will also be much more comfortable than the controller for PlayStation 4, as well as the Xbox One pad. The source of the information is said to be the person who had the opportunity to test the device.

"Battery Life: They noted that it averaged around 3 to 4 hours more than the dualshock 4 The Comfort of it: They noted that it is much more comfortable than the dualshock 4 and less bulky overall, they even noted that it was more comfortable than the Xbox one controller in thier eyes," we read.

According to the same Internet user, DualSense's buttons make a very similar impression as their counterparts from the PS4 controller. However, L1 and R1 behave similarly to old L2 and R2 triggers. In turn the latter ones on the PS5 pad have more resistance. Also the touchpad is said to have been improved, supposedly reacting better to the touch.

"The Buttons: The D-pad and the main buttons feel similar to the dualshock 4 with no differences overall However, the Touchpad does feel more responsive and clicky as he tried it. The triggers are interesting, the L1 and R1 dont click, they push down as they're triggers, the L2 and R2 however, felt harder to push down than normal, even without the tension points [one of pad's new features - editorial note] activated," we read further.

The information should be treated as a rumor, but it is worth noting that the same user posted a video presenting the pad, which is said to be from the source of the leak.
