Rust Keeps on Growing and Breaking Records

Rust does not intend to stop and continues to attract a lot of players from around the world. The title celebrates a series of successes on Steam and beats the records it set for itself just beforehand.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Rust has broken another record in terms of the number of people playing the game at the same time - a whopping 245,243 users.

Over a week ago, we wrote about the incredible popularity of Rust - a well-known survival game intended for multiplayer. Pandemic turned out to be a salvation for the game, which, as it seemed until recently, had its best days behind it. Meanwhile, it stormed to the top of the most played titles on Steam, and the previous record of the number of active players from a few days ago has already been beaten.

Recently, we informed about the dizzying number of 244,770 people playing Rust at the same time. This threshold was exceeded on January 16 - according to the stats visible on SteamDB, the new highest result is 245,243 players.

As we can also see on the chart above, the interest around Rust in the recent period has slightly decreased. The title is currently played by more than 180,000 people, and the activity record from the last 24 hours is 220,518 users. Still, the devs at Facepunch Studios have no reasons to panic, as the results they're getting so far are still very impressive.

Rust may not be a phenomenon on the scale of Among Us, but it certainly is another proof that the game industry likes to surprize and every game can become a big hit overnight. Sometimes all you need is a little patience, favorable circumstances, and a bit of luck.
