New-old Sherlock Holmes Games is Being Developed as a 'Middle Finger' to Russia

Ukrainian studio Frogwares has revealed that it is working on a remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. The project, previously revealed under the working title Palianytsia, is announced as a kind of slap in the face to the Russians.

We already know what developers from Ukrainian studio Frogwares are working on. The game, temporarily named Project Palianytsia in fact turned out to be a remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakening from 2006.

Developers from war-torn Ukraine had previously declared that the game would be a kind of "middle finger" aimed at the Russians attacking their homeland.

The old "crossover" in a new guise

The developers will undertake a re-telling of the story from the adventure game, which was a mix of the adventures of a famous detective with the darkness and atmosphere native to H.P. Lovecraft's novels. Now, 16 years later, the team at Frogwares intends to "completely rebuild" game and write it from scratch.

The developers, by the way, shared some new concept arts and screenshots announcing the game, which you can see below:

Working despite the war

The developers on the occasion of this announcement also revealed that they will soon launch a fundraiser on Kickstarter, where those willing can support the "final parts of the game's development".

An interview with a member of Frogwares about the studio's situation in times of war:

Help will come in handy, especially since Frogwares is forced to work with an incomplete lineup - the part of the team is still in the war-affected areas of eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops are continuing their invasion.

So far, no details are known about the new-old Sherlock Holmes, such as target hardware platforms or even an approximate release date. Perhaps we will know this one soon, with the launch of the fundraiser and the release of the first trailer. According to Frogwares, the latter should hit the web "very soon"..
