Update Introducing Spider-Man to Marvel's Avengers is Expected to be 'Unique'
The developer of Marvel's Avengers has revealed what we can expect from the update introducing Spider-Man to the game. It is supposed to be a story-driven event enhanced with cinematic cut-scenes.

Marvel's Avengers seems to be finally getting in shape lately. Although the title didn't have a successful debut, the recent free weekend attracted many new players. The game met with favorable reception, as seen in recent user reviews on Steam. A way to consolidate this good impression, may be the upcoming release of an update, which will introduce Spider-Man to the game.
Until now, we did not know what the new Spidey-centered content will look like. It's possible that the update would merely add the hero to the roster of available characters - or offer the players something more. Fortunately, we now know that the developers have chosen the second option.
One of the developers spoke about the update on the game's official Discord server. Dan Matlack (using the handle CD_Dan_Matlack) revealed that it will be a big event in the game world. Spider-Man will appear in Marvel's Avengers along with a series of story missions that will be spiced up with cinematic cut-scenes. Peter Parker's fans have something to look forward to.
Unfortunately, we do not know when exactly the said update will be released. For now, the devs only revealed that it will appear before the end of this year.
