STALKER 2 With Multiple Endings and Mod Support

Zakhar Bocharov - PR Manager of GSC Game World - talked about several different aspects of S.T.A..L.K.E.R. 2 in one of the web podcasts.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Zakhar Bocharov from GSC Game World was a guest on the Not Brought In podcast and provided some details about STALKER 2;
  2. Support for mods is the key to this title - the creators would like to add this feature also on Xbox Series X / S consoles;
  3. The game will receive a new version of the A-life system, thanks to which the world is to be active even when there is no player around;
  4. A non-linear storyline with a large number of different endings will also be important.

Zakhar Bocharov, PR Manager of GSC Game World - the company behind STALKER 2 - was a guest on Russian language podcast Not Brought In (via GamingSym). During the conversation he shared some new details about the upcoming game. We learned, among other things, that the developers consider support for mods a key feature and are considering implementing is also in the version dedicated to Xbox Series X / S consoles.

In the conversation there was also some information about the technology used by the devs. For example, they initially planned to create a new version of their in-house graphics engine X-Ray, but it was considered too outdated, so it was decided to use the Unreal Engine technology. Zakhar Bocharov also assured that on the day of release the game will be much more stable than previous installments.

As for the gameplay in STALKER 2, we can expect the evolution of the life-simulation system called A-Life, about which we wrote earlier - thanks to the 2.0 version of this technology, the inhabitants of the world (we're talking about various factions, but also monsters) will take actions regardless of whether they are observed by the player character at any given moment.

“A-life 2.0 is a different level of performance. We’ll pay enough attention to it closer to release. It’s a wildly cool system that works really well and there will be something to show," said the developer.

A non-linear storyline is expected to play an important role in the game, which will offer a huge number of different paths and endings.

"This is a game that you want to be bought and replayed for the sake of history," assured Zakhar Bocharov.

STALKER 2 is heading for PC and Xbox Series X / S. The game is to be released later this year.
