Fan-made Project STALKER: Legacy of Times Canceled

The fan-made project Stalker: Legacy of Times has been canceled. Work on the mod for Crysis Wars inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series has ended less than a year and a half after its announcement. The creators decided to share their achievements so far.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The creators of STALKER: Legacy of Times have announced the cancelation of the project;
  • Beta version files of the game were made available to players for free.

The developers have shared the information about ending work on STALKER: Legacy of Times, a fan project inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. Unfortunately, it's a premature end - the project has been canceled. The reasons for this decision are unknown.

In the official announcement, creator Wolfstalker writes:

"Hello friends. So our journey has come to an end. Not exactly how I imagined it, but what can I do. I share the most intimate. That has driven me for the last 3-4 years. Thank you for supporting us all this time. It is very nice. Thanks to everyone who believed in us and helped. I want to apologize for letting you down, but the reality is sometimes unfair. In general, download, play, watch, if there are a desire and opportunity, modify it. All sources are inside, you can use them however you want. You can also throw screenshots or videos of the build into the offer, I will publish the most interesting. Well, it’s time to say goodbye. Good luck to all. Don’t forget about us. Who knows, maybe I’ll see you again someday."

STALKER: Legacy of Times began as a modification for Crysis Wars, which evolved into a standalone title over time. The game was developed on the CryEngine 2 engine, and we got to see the first gameplay from the early version in October 2019.

As written in the farewell - the authors shared the results of their work so far for free with the community. The unfinished Legacy of Times is playable, but what is probably even more important, tools for modifying the game were also made available. Perhaps thanks to this procedure the project will not die completely, and will turn into something interesting through the actions of modders.

Build mod can be downloaded here.
