The developers of Assassin's Creed: Shadows haven't made major changes to the game based on the poor reception of Star Wars: Outlaws. However, they may add a higher difficulty level in the future.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows was released not so long ago, although it was originally supposed to be released on November 15th of last year (before the release was postponed twice). Earlier, Star Wars: Outlaws launched, which Ubisoft officially recognized as a failure. However, it turns out that this unsuccessful release didn't have a major impact on Shadows.
The creative director of the game, Jonathan Dumont, recently spoke with GamesRadar+, where he was asked whether any deeper changes were made to Shadows based on the poor reception of Outlaws. The answer was as follows:
Not really. We were basically trying to make the most polished game that we [can]. Our game was there, so just making sure that we don't have bugs and that the experience is clean for people.
Although the focus was mainly on polishing the game, Ubisoft also added "a few elements of narration" here and there. The team, while playing in Shadows, realized after a delay that in some places they could "improve the relationship," which resulted in extra scenes.
Dumont also commented on the concern raised by some players that the gameplay in Shadows is too easy. He conveyed that the team is "actively considering" the possibility of adding an even higher level of difficulty, also asking the community: "how difficult a game do you want?".
Right now, Shadows offers three options - easy, normal, and expert level (separately for combat and stealth). However, for some fans who are looking for a higher challenge, it's still not enough. The devs are attentive and continuously "listening and observing player activities" to fix errors and make various changes based on constructive feedback.
Obviously, we can't do everything, but there are things that we're going to be actioning on, and just for the next updates, there are quite a bit of bug fixes and little feature enhancement stuff that is coming in.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is available on PC, PS5, and XSX/S.
