According to reports, there is fierce competition for the future of StarCraft. Four major developers from Korea reportedly want to develop a new game.
StarCraft is a well-known brand, which unfortunately hasn't seen any new installment for many years. Aside from the remaster of the first installment, the last DLC for the sequel was released back in 2015. Since that time, there have only been rumors, like those from last year, about a supposedly developing open-world shooter. We do have new info now.

Furthermore, some of these companies had even managed to go to Blizzard's HQ to present their proposals. These are to include various genres, including RPGs and shooters.
Blizzard is still carefully selecting a potential partner by analyzing the development skills, game publishing experience, and marketing abilities of the candidates. Choosing the right studio is crucial, that's why every company presents detailed proposals and operational plans.
If the contract is finalized, it might greatly impact the future of the StarCraft brand. So there is nothing left to do but wait for the official announcement.
