Fixes Coming to Steam, Including Game Size Visible in Library

Steam Client Beta has received a few fixes for Steam Deck users. They concern the game library and the information visible in it.

With the first shipments of Steam Deck incoming, Steam has received a few changes. These include interface tweaks, thanks to which players will have access to more information. So far the changes are only visible in the Steam Client Beta.

Visible Game Size

From now on, the refreshed Steam library will show the size of the game next to the download button. Here is the old look:

Syncing with cloud

Along the installed games, Steam Client Beta also shows the status of synchronization with data in the cloud. According to GamingOnLinux, clicking on the cloud icon with an exclamation mark will update the files.

Offline mode must work like a Swiss watch

Steam Deck is a portable PC so we can expect that sometimes during the game we will lose internet connection and will be forced to play offline. Valve is also working on its platform in this regard (via Steam Client Beta).

  1. If you disconnect from Steam when finishing a game, the sync will be quequed until you reconnect.
  2. Corrections have been made to properly track changes to game files that use AutoCloud when playing offline.
  3. Improved the process of launching an offline game (removed most instances of long waiting times).

Steam Deck is looking good

So far only developers have had access to the device, but in their opinion the portable PC from Valve works very well.. It is worth noting that individual games run without major problems, even if they have not yet been adapted for the device.

You can reserve Steam Deck on Steam. Note, however, that if you order the device now, you will not receive it until the second half of 2022 at the earliest.
