STEAMWORLD QUEST IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Developer: Image & Form
  2. Publisher: Image & Form
  3. Genre: RPG
  4. Platform: Switch
  5. Release date: 2019

Image & Form announced SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, a battle RPG with CCG elements. The game will be released this year and for now only the Nintendo Switch version has been confirmed. The authors emphasized, however, that the production will also be released on other platforms, only later this year.

As the title suggests, the game is part of the SteamWorld brand, which includes SteamWorld Tower Defense, SteamWorld Heist and the SteamWorld Dig series. The authors have accustomed us to experimenting with the setting and SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is to continue the tradition with a fantasy formula, although the game will also feature a lot of steampunk elements as well.

The information about the game is scarce so far. We know that we will take command of a team of heroes, explore the world and fight turn-based battles. During the clashes, the key role will be played by a deck created by the players, which will be composed of more than hundreds of cards, used to execute attacks and a variety of useful effects.

Little is known about the story, apart from the fact that the developers promise a humorous plot. The creators also revealed that the fantasy setting was something that the fans of the brand asked for, although as per the team’s tradition a unique and original take on the the setting will be presented.

Finally, the previous game from Image & Form was the two-dimensional platformer SteamWorld Dig 2. The game was released in 2017 for PC, as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita consoles, and a year later also on Xbox One and 3DS.
