Stephen King Had an Intriguing Idea on a Sequel to Iconic Horror Movie

Stephen King intrigued Internet users with his tweet about an unrealized idea for a sequel to Friday the 13th. The author wanted to present the story from the perspective of Jason Voorhees himself.

Stephen King would like to expand the universe of Friday the 13th.

One of the latest Twitter entries by Stephen King attracted a lot of attention, not only from fans of his works but also horror genre in general. The American writer decided to share his best idea for a novel, which he will probably never write. It would take place in the universe known from the Friday the 13th series.

The revolutionary element of King's idea is the perspective he wants to take. Throughout the 12 films, the villain Jason Voorhees has consistently murdered innocent teenagers (and others) according to the slasher philosophy. This time the story would be presented through his eyes and we would finally learn more about the killer's motivation and thoughts.

King once managed to make a film titled Maximum Overdrive. It entered the cinemas in 1986 and fitted quite well into the kitschy style of those years. For many people, the work has become a spectacular failure, but there is a handful of people who have bought the director's idea wholesale.

Fans liked the idea so much that they decided to force King to act. Moreover, in their comments they did not only mention the novel, but also the desire to see a film based on this concept. The chance of someone taking further action is highly doubtful, but King himself admitted on Twitter that studio Blumhouse, known for its horror films, would be able to make such a film.

King's output is so rich that at least several adaptations of his works appear on TV or cinema screens every year. In 2019 alone, such hits as Pet Sematary It: Chapter Two or Doctor Sleep have been released. However, the information about the new installment of Friday the 13th should be taken with a grain of salt, because the novel itself does not exist in any form so far.
