Strategy Games Essential for PC Game Pass; More to Come

One of the leading Microsoft employees revealed what genre of games is most important for PC Game Pass. It turns out that it's strategy games.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The genre of strategy games is very important for PC Game Pass;
  • It is responsible for up to 20 percent of user activity on the service;
  • In the future, the subscription library will include even more titles of this type.

PC Game Pass enables us to play many famous titles such as Forza Horizon 5 or Halo Infinite. Microsoft has already accustomed us to the fact that the subscription's library is regularly enriched with new popular games.

However, it's not the type of production that's key to the service. Information on this topic were shared in Matt Percy's interview with PCGamesN. Manager of portfolio planning for PC Game Pass confessed that from Microsoft's point of view one of the most important genres are strategy games.

“Strategy games have become some of the most popular titles in our portfolio. They’re consistently in the top ten games every month and they drive as much as 20% of our monthly engagement on PC.

Our goal for Game Pass has always been to offer gamers more choice. And give creators more choice as well. We think we’re having a really positive effect on the [strategy] genre on PC, because you’re making it more accessible to people.”

So it's not surprising that the service adds more and more titles of this type. PC Game Pass' offer includes all the main instalments of Age of Empires, games by Paradox Interactive and many other more or less famous productions. In the future even more will be added to the library.

In two months the subscribers will be able to play Total War: Warhammer III. We also know that Victoria 3 will be available on the day of its release.
