After the success of Nimona, Annapurna Interactive is striking the iron while hot and is already planning its next work. This time it will be an animated adaptation of last year's hit game, Stray.
Are there any cat lovers here? If so, we have good news for you. As journalists of EW managed to find out, Annapurna Animation, a division of Annapurna Interactive, has begun work on an adaptation of last year's Stray.
"It's a game about what makes us human and not human. It's a buddy tale of a cat and a robot with a hilarious dynamic. So there's comedic elements, but there's not a single human in the movie. I think that's one of the reasons why the game was extremely popular, that you see the world from the point of view of a cute cat. How did they [the game's creators, BlueTwelve Studio - editor's note] manage to do that, and how are we going to do it in the movie? We're going to do it, even if sometimes it seems impossible, but we know it's the essence of the game and the key to telling the story," Annapurna Animation representative Robert Baird revealed in an interview.

Recall that Stray is a small game, the release of which was handled by the aforementioned Annapurna Interactive. Shown from a third-person perspective, the game presents the fate of a feline who travels through a cyberpunk city in search of his loved ones. During the journey through a city inhabited only by robots, the feline has to face many dangers. However, the four-legged hero is not doomed to loneliness, as he befriends a certain B-12 drone during his adventure.
Since its debut, the game has gained immense popularity, and this has translated into many industry awards.
Finally, it's worth mentioning that Stray isn't the only title that will hit screens in the years to come, thanks to Annapurna Animation. Driven by the success of its latest animation - Nimona - the company has many more projects in its plans, but which remain a secret for now.
