Dying Light 2 Devs: Microsoft Won't Take Over Techland

Polish company Techland has denied rumors of a possible takeover by Microsoft. The studio values its independence and does not intend to hand itself over to any publisher.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Polish studio Techland has denied recent rumors of a takeover;
  2. Company's community manager stressed that it has not been bought by Microsoft or any other publisher, valuing its independence.

Rumours of a takeover of Polish studio Techland, responsible for Dying Light and its upcoming sequel, among other games, have surfaced online. It seems that the reports are not covered in reality. Techland's community manager informed about it on Twitter.

Techland could undoubtedly be a great bargain for the Redmond giant - the team has already proven on several occasions that they can create really interesting things, and Dying Light 2 promises to be excellent - it looks like a very well thought-out sequel, which develops ideas and concepts from the original in an interesting way, but at the same time is not repetitive and lacking ambition.

This rather direct denial hasn't convinced everyone - some suggest that Techland simply can't talk about the acquisition openly.

It's worth noting that one of the reasons for similar rumors may be Dying Light 2's development problems - the title's release has been postponed several times (including due to the coronavirus pandemic, though the first delay occurred in early 2020, when Covid-19 wasn't yet a global thing).
