The sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls got a teaser in 2018 and since then, apart from minor mentions in interviews, we haven't received any details about the project. So it's not surprising that any information - especially positive information - is eagerly awaited by the fans. Todd Howard, game designer and director at Bethesda studios, shared some thoughts on The Elder Scrolls VI.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be something big

Bethesda has its hands full with the release of Starfield, , which will take place on September 6. Although work on TES6 has not yet started in earnest, the experience of creating Starfield will translate to this game as well. In an interview with GQ Todd Howard admitted that The Elder Scrolls VI will be "the ultimate fantasy world simulator".

"What I will say is that we want the game to fulfill its role as the ultimate fantasy world simulator. Given the time that has passed [since the release of the last installment of TES - editor's note], there are different ways to achieve this."

In 2021, in an interview with The Telegraph Howard emphasized that the Creation Engine 2, which powers Starfield, was also designed with TES6 in mind. The work on the new space IP has certainly translated into the refinement of this engine. As the creator himself stated, in the case of the sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls additions will be made to Creation Engine 2, which this game will require.

Also in 2021, in an interview with IGN Howard said that in his opinion, such a long time gap between TES5, or Skyrim, and TES6 isn't exactly a good thing, but the studio wants the game to be done right.

"Everything takes longer than we would like, but we want to make sure we do it right. We want the game to be something big and influential [in the context of the game industry - ed. note] on the day of release."

It's safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls VI will be a goldmine for Bethesda, so the desire to polish the game is to be applauded, although it should be noted that the game is still in the design phase and it's still a song of distant future.

Since the release of Skyrim Bethesda has had its hands full - it created Fallout 4 and its DLCs, Fallout 76, which, by the way, is being supported all the time, and will soon release Starfield, which has every predisposition to become a big game.
