The Quarry Launches Today; Publisher Removes Demo [Updated]

The Quarry made its debut on the market today. It's another great production, but it caused a bit of confusion with its free version on Steam.

Update

2K Games and Supermassive Games have removed the demo of The Quarry from Steam. This was most likely caused by the actions of people trying to crack the demo's security measures. Currently, you can only purchase the full game there in two editions (Basic and Deluxe).

Original message

Starting today, you can play The Quarry. This is the latest game by Supermassive Games, the studio responsible for the warmly received Until Dawn.

The new work of British developers is another adventure horror in their portfolio. Reviews suggest that we are dealing with a noteworthy title. Most importantly, you can get acquainted with it for free.

Old-school horror

The Quarry is clearly inspired by classic horror movies. The plot focuses on the fate of a group of teenagers who throw a party in the quarry during the last night of a summer camp.

Of course, we don't have to wait long for the heroes to get hunted by bloodthirsty locals. Who will survive and who will fall victim to them will depend only on the player's decision. In this respect The Quarry also resembles the memorable Until Dawn.

Critics delighted

Even before the premiere there were many reviews of the game. Most of them make it clear that The Quarry is a game worth the attention of horror fans.

Among the advantages are the reviewers mentioned above all the plot, atmosphere and a lot of possibilities in shaping the story. The title was also often compared to an interactive movie.

And if you are a fan of numerical ratings, it is enough to mention that on Metacritic the title can boast an average of 80/100.

Can you play The Quarry for free?

Interestingly, you can get acquainted with The Quarry for free. The game received a demo version, which you can download via Steam.

However, it caused a bit confusion. Wanting to download the free version, we will be forced to download the full game, weighing 45 GB.

Some players saw this as a mistake and began to wonder if this means that the complete version The Quarry was made available on Steam for free.

However, this is no mistake. The game can be downloaded entirely free of charge. However, you will not get access to most of the content. This will unlock only when you pay for the full release.

This system is intended to make the transition from demo to full edition easier. If The Quarry appeals to you and you will decide to buy the game, you will be able to continue without any problems.

Players are gathering

We can already say that the game enjoys considerable interest. The Quarry is available from early morning hours and slowly gathers more and more players.

According to SteamDB, over 2,6 thousand people have launched the title. However, the trend is clearly on the rise, so this number will definitely increase over time.

It is also worth mentioning that players are eager to watch game streams. Currently, streams from The Quarry are followed by over 60 thousand people on Twitch.
