There are Talks at Disney About Alien TV Series

For some time now there have been media mentions of a possible TV series set in the universe of Alien, prepared by Disney. However, the future of the project is uncertain.

The Alien franchise has that thing going on that it expands in a rather chaotic and unpredictable way. The last two Ridley Scott's projects set in this universe - Prometheus and Alien: Covenant - have by no means satisfied the fans who wanted a return to the old-school form of claustrophobic horror with a xenomorph in the main role.

Hope appeared when the right to the Alien franchise were acquired by Disney. Noah Hawley, the man responsible for Fargo and Legion (now owned by Disney), mentioned some time ago that he was participating in talks about creating a TV series set in the Alien universe. The last interview with Hawley, however, cools down the fans' hopes a little. The creator admitted that although the idea still reappears from time to time, his involvement in the project has diminished.

Knowing what the situation is, one can ask a question: why didn't Disney actually decide to turn the franchise into a money-making machine, like it did with Star Wars? Probably Disney just has no idea how to do it. The series on xenomorph would have to be a production for adults and therefore would not fit well into Disney's catalog. On the other hand, releasing a production of this class on Hulu also seems to be an inappropriate idea.

However, the solution may not be far away. Disney has been taking shy steps to complement its offerings with mature films and series for some time now. The company even sends out questionnaires to viewers, asking them what kind of productions they think they need on the website. If it turns out that this direction pays off, making a series about Alien would be a logical decision, and it will probably be quite fast. As Noah Hawley says, Disney will definitely not let the franchise rest too long. So when the time comes, fans who are anxious for the fear of space monster will surely satisfy their hunger.
