Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game full of content and mechanics. Some of them are very clear, while some not so much. One of the questions among players is about time limit in BG3. Is there any? The answer is yes! And at the same time no. Learn about consequences of long rest in this guide.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Time Limit Explained

Time limit in BG3 is connected to long rests. They push some events forward. But don’t worry, as it is very restricted. In most cases you can sleep as long as you wish, you can’t fail the main quest, but there are some exceptions.

If you come closer to an important place with an event, and use a long rest without completing it, time may pass. For example:

There are many more examples in which long rest will progress side stories in this way.

At the same time, if an important character will tell you that something will happen next day, it will. After a long rest this event will take place. In the case you wanted to prepare or pick a different route, you will lose this chance.

However, you may miss something even if you don’t sleep. Interactions with your companions and important events tend to happen while you take a long rest, and it is one of the main ways to progress them. So, those precious moments in the camp are important aspects of telling the story.
