Tom Holland suggests that it may be time for someone else to take on the role of New York's friendly neighbourhood hero, Spider-Man. The actor has been an important part of the MCU's success and if he were to leave, it would be by leaving a good impression.
Tom Holland made his debut in the role of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and the good reception of his character by the fans led to the character getting his own trilogy. He also appeared in many other Marvel projects. However, as the actor stated in an interview with Hollywood Reporter, it may soon be time to pass on the baton.

The actor has been playing the Spider Man for seven years now, and Spider-Man: No Way Home has left the audiences with a theoretically closed, yet sequel-enabling ending. Spider-Man 4 has been rumored for some time, but Tom Holland recently provided a fresh perspective on the issue.
"The first few meetings [with the producers ed. note] were about, ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative. But I’m also a little apprehensive about it. There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life," Holland announces.
The main problem with making the next film is currently the American screenwriters' strike, which has also affected work on the fourth part. Understandably, Tom Holland is probably also interested in non-superhero projects and does not want to sacrifice the best years of his career to one character. Nonetheless, fans would surely be happy to see him in the role of Peter Parker if only this last time.
