Torment: Tides of Numenera gets a late gamescom trailer

Although gamescom 2016 is long gone, a new gamescom-labeled trailer from Torment: Tides of Numenera emerged online. The video shows off some key features of the upcoming spiritual successor to Planescape Torment.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is one of several promising old-school RPGs to launch in a not-so-distant future. The spiritual successor to the legendary Planescape Torment, in development by inXile Entertainment – the studio that lately gave us Wasteland 2 – is going to be set on Earth one billion years from now, in a world much different from ours, where the remnants of a once technologically advanced civilization coexist with fantasy elements. This reality is featured in a newly released gamescom 2016 trailer (yup, they did take their time), which you can watch below:

Similarly to its memorable predecessor, Torment: Tides of Numenera is going to pose a serious question: how much does one life matter? – to which you will have to find your own answer. Throughout the game’s complex story players will face thousands of meaningful choices with weighty consequences as well as multiple conflicts which can be resolved in many ways other than combat. The current release time window for Torment: Tides of Numenera is Q1 2017. The game is going to hit PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Before that happens you can try its Early Access version available on Steam for $44.99.
