Uncharted 5 in Development in Sony's Secret Studio?

Everything seems to indicate that Sony has a yet undisclosed development studio, which will deal with the development of PlayStation franchises. It's possible that the first game to be developed will be the much-loved Uncharted series.

A profile of one of Sony Worldwide Studios' employees - Michael Mumbauer - on LinkedIn suggests that the Japanese company has a secret studio in San Diego, called Visual Arts / Visual Arts Services Group (Mumbauer worked as Senior Director there until last November). The team has so far supported other developers, but it looks set to develop existing PlayStation brands as well.

"His latest achievement is having built a brand new, all-star, AAA Action/Adventure development team for Playstation. Based in San Diego and utilizing proprietary engine technology, this team was assembled to expand upon existing franchises and craft all new stories for the next generation of gamers," reads Mumbauer's profile.

Wccftech editors speculate that the mysterious studio's first independent project could be the next installment of the Uncharted series , developed until this point by Naughty Dog. It's the right time to return to the brand, and the description quoted by Mumbauer seems to fit (especially as one of the older tweets also mentions TPP). What's more, last October, Sony hired Zak Oliver, whose past projects include Uncharted and The Last of Us.

Several new job openings have also been posted recently. They are looking for an expert in creating character models and an animator.

The last full-fledged installment of the Uncharted series was 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. A year later, the standalone expansion Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was also released.
