Snowpiercer Season 2 Premiere Inbound; Show Renewed for Season 3

Season 2 of Snowpiercer hasn't even aired yet, and TNT is already planning the third one. It's a brave move as the series doesn't enjoy overly enthusiastic reviews.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • TNT's Snowpiercer was renewed for third season;
  • Meanwhile, the second season of the aforementioned production will air in just a few days, on January 25.

In May 2020, a new TV series from TNT, titled Snowpiercer, debuted. It is a remake of the acclaimed science fiction movie directed by Joon-ho Bong, which tells the story of people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. However, they do not travel through irradiated wastelands, but are passengers on a speeding train.

Season 1 of the series received rather mixed reviews from critics (61% on Rotten Tomatoes), and slightly better opinions from the viewers (71% on Rotten Tomatoes). According to the audience, the work definitely has a lot of ambition, but it fell short in several moments. Nevertheless, the first episode of season 2 will air in just a few days, on January 25, and according to Variety, TNT has already ordered a third seasons (we don't know its premiere date yet).

Such a decision suggests that Snowpiercer cannot complain about lack of popularity and people simply want to know how the story will unfold (which is not surprising, taking into consideration the cliffhanger left by the creators at the end of the first season). In addition, it is time to forget all of the production problems from recent years - directors and writers changed like the weather, and we had to get acquainted with the work for the first time back in 2018. It's good that the producers managed to stabilized their position in the market.

Once again, we remind that season 2 of Snowpiercer will air shortly. Graeme Manson remains in the showrunner position, and the show stars Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream), Daveed Diggs (Wonder), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha), and Sean Bean (Game of Thrones).
