Paradox has re-announced Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. A big surprise was who is currently developing the game.
Paradox Interactive has finally revealed a new incarnation of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. This is our first look at the project since more than two years ago the publisher took it from Hardsuit Labs studio.
The first trailer has also been released, and includes some cutscene fragments as well as some gameplay. In turn an extensive gameplay recording will be made available next January.
Paradox also finally announced the new team working on the game. Until now, the publisher has avoided revealing details about this studio.
Now we have learned that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is being developed at The Chinese Room, a studio located in the British city of Brighton, known for such games as Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture or Little Orpheus. This is quite a surprise, but also a positive surprise, since this team has shown that it knows how to create excellent narratives.
Recall that the first incarnation of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was announced in March 2019. The release was initially planned for 2020, but the project suffered a series of delays. It quickly became clear that the gane had encountered major problems. First the team lost lead writer Brian Mitsoda (one of the key persons resposible for the first Bloodlines) and creative director Ka’ai Cluney. Soon after senior story designer Cara Ellison followed. Eventually, in 2021, Paradox decided to take the project away from Hardsuit Labs and hand it over to a new developer.
