Raze or Convert an enemy settlement? This is an important choice that may be left for you to make when conducting sieges in Songs of Conquest. Our guide explains the consequences and effects of Raze or Convert (taking over a settlement) and in what situations the individual options make more sense. We also explain how sieging a fortresses located on the map works.
Choice during a siege

- Once you reach an enemy settlement, you can proceed to besiege it, and after the eventual defenders of it are defeated, a screen will appear with a choice regarding the further fate of the settlement in question. You can have 2 or 3 options.
Raze - the first option

- The idea behind this choice is to demolish all buildings in the settlement. The time required to complete this action is not specified - 2 buildings per turn are demolished, so a complete Raze of a settlement may take a few turns. You will also receive some loot from destroyed objects.
- This is a better option when you want to deprive an opponent of a vital settlement and you do not have further use for it, or if you want to plan to rebuild it your way. The disadvantage is that you need to build all the buildings again and this will cost you resources.
Convert - the second option

- This option requires the Wielder to stay in the city for the duration of it. He will begin Converting the settlement and the entire action may take e.g. 2 turns. In the seized settlement, all erected buildings will be preserved and your faction will start collecting the profits from it.
- This is a better option if you have the time to stop in the settlement and do not plan any major changes to it. This is not a good idea if you are in a rush, e.g. to capture another city or to face one of the nearby Wielders, or if you only have a single Wielder that has more important tasks than to see to the fate of a settlement.
Siege - the third option

- This variant is only available to fortresses. You can start profiting right away with it, e.g. getting a certain amount of gold every turn or getting passive bonuses.
- The fortress under siege does not become your property. This means that you cannot put buildings in it.
