How to get Research Parts?

Research Parts can be obtained in several ways:

1. By performing the Dredge action - places where you can get just Research Parts are very rare. However, it may happen that when you obtain Lumber, Bolt of Cloth or Metal Scraps you will also get Research Parts.
2. By purchasing from the Traveling Merchant - this character can be found in every Pontoon location. From time to time, he offers Research Parts, but you have to take into account that they will cost a lot.
3. By completing Pursuits - sometimes you will receive Research Parts as a reward for completing tasks.
4. By talking to the citizens - sometimes the characters you talk to will give you Research Parts.

How to spend Research Parts?

You will spend Research Parts on research, which is available at every dock. Just click on the Research icon shown in the picture above to go to the research screen.

Research is divided into 4 types:

1. Rods - here you will find various fishing rods.
2. Engines - here you will develop engines that will make your boat much faster.
3. Pots - crab traps that you can set to trap animals.
4. Nets - special nets that automatically catch fish.

Once you've selected an item you want to research, just left-click on it and hold down the button. Research Parts will be added to the pool. The gear icons below the image determine how many parts are needed to unlock the gear. A researched item automatically becomes available for purchase from merchants.
