25 Best Hack'n'slash Games - Devilishly Good List!

We're back with another TOP 25 list. This time of the best hack and slash titles. 2023 brought fresh air to the genre, so let's dive right in!

Table of Contents

4. Grim Dawn

Definitely one of the best new items in the genre, although not without flaws. The game was worth waiting for, even though it stayed in early access for a long time. The new title of the developers of the well-known Titan Quest is doing quite well on the market, offering a lot of fun in a classic style.

The developers didn't change the proven formula at all, instead serving up more of what we like. We move from antiquity to an apocalyptic fantasy in modern atmosphere, where magic and firearms perfectly complement each other. The world of Cairn is a battlefield between two destructive forces and one of them feeds on human bodies, using them as resources. The other is dedicated to the extermination of our race in order to cut off the enemy from the source of power. As you can easily guess, this puts humans in a hopeless situation.

As a result of this fight, the world was devastated and only a few survived. The survivors created enclaves to ensure some form of defense against hostile forces. As a result of the mentioned conflict, Cairn began to be haunted by dark creatures. Some people have discovered that they possess miraculous abilities, becoming heroes and rebelling against oppressors.

In Grim Dawn, we take on the role of someone like that. We don't get a predefined character class. Instead, we have a free choice, and we can play according to our own preferences. Interestingly, the character's development is based on making decisions about what to invest in. We can develop character class or improve skills. The combat system was implemented without any significant revolution; everything relies on skillfully clicking to exterminate hordes of enemies.

Surprisingly, the disadvantage of Grim Dawn is the excess of loot that we collect. Enemies leave behind iron in overwhelming quantities, but not the kind we are used to. It quickly turns out that the acquired loot is useless and we quickly learn to ignore it.

When it comes to the quality of the graphics, we are dealing with a polished Titan Quest, which shouldn't be surprising, after all, Grim Dawn was developed on the same engine. The game itself is worth playing, especially if you loved the aforementioned title. Its high position in our ranking is a result of tremendous support from the developers, who are constantly polishing Grim Dawn with new updates and expansions. Over time, this production has made significant progress and can now compete without any obstacles with its more popular competitors.
