After the amazing Eternal, it's probably a bit too early for a new Doom. But it's high time to check again what's happening with B.J. Blazkowicz in a new, full-fledged Wolfenstein. The last time we saw him was in the spin-off called Youngblood, where we accompanied his crazy daughters. The game turned out to be a prelude to Redfall, which was only slightly better than the recent vampire installment, so it would be good to return to the quality of the warmly received New Colossus. It will soon be as much as six years since the last good Wolf appeared – that's more than enough to give us at least a solid trailer and let fans know that there is something to wait for.

Why are we waiting?

Wolfenstein is, after all, an absolute legend of FPP shooters – a game that really started it all back in 1992. Not counting the slip-up that Youngblood was, Bethesda has proven itself as a producer who understands the spirit of the original and can simultaneously relate to the classics while supporting them with the right dose of modern solutions that we expect in today's action games. Indeed, we have accompanied the protagonist in the events of an alternative version of history up to the 1960s, but I would also not mind a modern version of the first 3D game, or Spear of Destiny, or even Return to Castle Wolfenstein in the current era of remakes and reboots. The creators have a lot of leeway here and I hope they won't keep this IP on a shelf for long.

If not Wolf, then maybe Gears?

Will Xbox Games Studios and Microsoft be holding a big, separate conference just to talk about Starfield, Forza, Fable, and other announced games as well as some indie propositions? I believe that they will not, and that in the end, they have prepared a "bomb" – a completely new, first presentation of a long-awaited brand. If not Wolfenstein, maybe it will be the sixth full-fledged installment of Gears of War? Part five was released in 2019 and was quite well received. Besides, numerous rumors and signals in previous years gave reasons to assume that work on the sixth game had started long ago. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, we have only been relying on things such as job postings at The Coalition studio and the information about the transition to the Unreal Engine 5 for their upcoming game. Will we see an official announcement of the next adventures of Marcus Fenix and his loved ones this year? We'll find out soon.
