The Greatsword can be found in the Caelid region, on the main road, north of the Caelem Ruins site of grace. The sword is guarded by dangerous enemies, but with a little cunning, you can avoid them. Thanks to this you get the weapon early in the game, right after unlocking a mount. Alternatively, you can use spirits and summon your companions to help you deal with the enemies in this area. The Greatsword is in the chest, and to get it, you don't need to defeat any bosses.

The Greatsword lets you attack with powerful swings that knock opponents off balance and deal very high damage. Its attacks are able to interrupt the action of smaller opponents. The sword's default special attack is very powerful and knocks the enemy into the air.

The Greatsword in the game is also a tribute to the Berserk manga. Elden Ring, like the Dark Souls series, is inspired by the work of Kentaro Miura, and you can notice it in the appearance of this weapon. If you are a fan of Berserk and have dreamed of making your character look like the main character, Greatsword will definitely be the best choice.

The Greatsword is a regular weapon - this means you upgrade it with Smithing Stones, and you can strengthen it with Ashes of War, changing its special attack and scaling. The weapon works great when fighting on a mount. Its biggest disadvantage is its weight and slow, sluggish attacks. It is a good weapon for players who develop strength and physical damage of their character. Significantly, despite the size of the weapon, you can still use it one-handed, in combination with a shield - if it doesn't exceed your capacity limit.

The initial scaling for the greatsword is as follows:

After the weapon is fully upgraded (without modifying it with the Ashes of War), its scaling is as follows:

The Greatsword is a powerful piece of iron that scales best with the strength stat. Dexterity also influences damage but to a lesser extent. You can obtain the sword early in the game, but due to its high requirements, you will have to wait a while before using it effectively.
