Elden Ring: Is time of day important?
This page of the Elden Ring tutorial answers the question - does the time of day (pass time) matter in the game, and if so, what.
This page of the Elden Ring game guide explains whether changing the time of day by passing time has any significant uses.
Outside of the open world, Elden Ring also introduces the ability to change the time of day. The time of day can be changed by resting at sites of grace. You can choose between morning, afternoon and night. During each, opponents will act differently.

What's more, depending on which time of day you select, you can encounter completely different opponents. For example, if you choose to travel at nighttime, you will encounter a unique opponent on the bridge in Limgrave, a mini-boss called the Night's Cavalry. The boss will only appear at this particular timeframe and you will be unable to fight them during the day.
It's worth experimenting with the time of the day, as this will allow you to encounter new opponents and new rewards. It will also help you learn how it affects the behavior of certain types of enemies.
